This next position had a couple of points of interest in its own right. It features two different variations of the Small Avalanche in a mimic go opening. The Avalanche was commonly used in such cases, so that is not really the focus here. Rather it's that it's the first instance we've seen by Seo Pong-su against a player other than Cho Hun-hyeon (his opponent here was Yi Tong-kyu and this was in the 1985 Wangwi).

Seo reputedly started playing mimic go against Cho in frustration at not being able to beat him. We have nine examples with this pairing, but this game is the first with another player.

This game also prompted recollection of an even more unusual gush of avalanches (or whatever the collective noun for avalanches is).
