The 26th Kisei incident had major ramifications. Ever since, most pros in Japan became very careful about filling in the dame (and it later became an official requirement). That in turn had a bizarre consequence in a game at 10 seconds a move between Chinen Kaori and Nakazawa Ayako in 2003.
Chinen was ahead by about 6 points when she filled in the last ko. Previously play would have ceased at that point. But in the new regime her opponent played on by filling dame and Chinen followed suit. After a while, the timekeeper got bored with this and stopped counting up to 10. Some of the moves then clearly exceeded 10 seconds. But on move 269 Nakazawa tried a rip-off. The timekeeper resumed counting, and under time pressure Chinen answered at A instead of B and so lost a group. While agape at what she had done, her time ran out anyway.
