Honinbo Shuho played the routine-looking hanetsugi (move 133) shown against his teacher Honinbo Shuwa in 1871. He was shocked by Shuwa's reply. It was a game-turning error - Shuho went on to lose by 3. Shuwa's reply was the atekomi at A. We leave the details as an exercise for the reader.
Shuho later described this game himself in his book Hoen Shinpo. He said, "White from the very beginning to well into the game was playing rather slackly, even ceding the initiative to his opponent and sometimes being thoroughly on the back foot. But when it came to the endgame and we reached move 133, Black suddenly blundered and ended up with a lost game. Until the end, even to when we put the go stones back in their bowls, I could not get this out of my mind."
