Although Yi tested Yoda with this novelty, Yoda had a test of his own for Yi. In the lower left he played the oo-takamoku (6-4 point) which he had tried in a couple of recent games just before this.

This is not so new, but it is likewise not well worked out yet. Yoda's repeated use of it suggests he may have some ideas of his own about it yet to emerge, but the line Yi came up with was long and complex. Yoda finished it off with a move that was big and nicely settled the aji. But regretted it!

The full Yi-Yoda game is available here. (The move that Yoda regretted was Black 53. As to why he made it, Ishida reminded us that Yoda is perpetually too optimistic. Yoda said he should have played 54, White takes ko, then Black 53.)
